Dawn Webster, L. OM (PA) L. Ac (NJ) Dipl OM
I grew up in the Pine Barrens of NJ where pretty much most of my spare time was spent with a head in a book trying to identify plants and what I could use them for. It's no surprise I was drawn first to herbal medicine, then acupuncture.
I completed a 3400 hour program in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine at Yo San University in Los Angeles, founded by 38th generation practitioners Mao and Dao Shing Ni. I've done additional training in China at the China Academy for Traditional Chinese Medicine in Beijing, focusing on advanced acupuncture techniques. My bachelor's and master's degrees are in environmental geology and music performance from Rutgers and Temple Universities.
I've volunteered in a variety of settings ranging from AIDS/HIV clinics in West Hollywood to primitive conditions after earthquakes in Nepal, typhoons in Vanuatu, and just general poverty in India. I've also worked with patients aboard luxury cruise ships. It's important to me to work with people at all income levels, which is why I offer both community-style and private acupuncture. I'm very excited to be working with the team at Roots Yoga to offer community acupuncture to the Callowhill and Center City Philadelphia area!
Although I'm no longer a full-time musician, you can still catch me on the local scene with West Philadelphia Orchestra - that is, if I'm not on one of my long-distance hikes. I've successfully hiked the Appalachian and Pacific Crest Trails, and the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal. I will be collaborating with Adventure Scientists researching pollinators on the Arizona Trail in 2018.
